VIRTUAL APPOINTMENTS

WHAT TO EXPECT

Our dresses are designed with passion and hand made with love and care in our small atelier in Fitzroy, Melbourne, Australia. So it is always a pleasure to learn that someone has connected with the timeless beauty and unique elegance I strive to create from afar .

Above is a video to get a sense of how we might meet with a virtual appointment. I love my clients to know in a world of AI and bots that I am a real person in a small artisan business. I also hope this helps to help demystify the daunting process of having a dress crafted from afar let alone the overwhelm of putting together a big event. Below is a bit more info to help guide with the process and what I’d need you to prepare before and maybe after the appointment. Of course feel free to email should you have any further questions.

YOU’LL NEED for the appointment

  • A tape measure

  • Please wear a singlet/tank top and a bra that you like you bust shape in if you need a bra.

prior to appointment; measurements

  • Bust

  • Cup size

  • Waist

  • High Hip (hip bones)

  • Seat (widest part of bottom)

  • Height (in the height of your shoes) You can always do height and heel height separately

  • It’s also useful to detail any unique aspects to your figure. Elements you may wish to enhance, hide or preferences in fit etc.

  • And a photo of yourself

FURTHER MEASUREMENTS

If possible it is great to ascertain these elements in preparation for your appointment but these are more complicated measurements so we can always discuss this further after or in the appointment if you are struggling to understand/wish to go ahead.

These measurements are:

  • Side Neck point to floor in shoes That is the point where your shoulder seam of a shirt would be to the closest part of your neck before the collar starts.

  • Waist to floor (in shoes)

  • Centre back neck to waist (in shoes)

  • Collar bone to ideal Centre front bust depth (for the neckline) I find if you put on a singlet/tank top and move it to the height you feel comfy and then measure from the neck bone to edge this is a good method to visualise what works for you

  • Back Waist to top edge above bra if wearing a bra.

You can use our measuring guide with diagrams for more assistance here

COLOURS

Should you wish to go ahead I’ll send you swatches so you can select the colour in real life. It is always good if I can see which colours you are drawn to initially. So please screenshot images of the dress colour you love most. This helps enormously as many of the colours distort in different lighting, flash etc. You may also have a unique colour you are seeking and we can try and accomodate that too. An image reference of this is always useful. This may not necessarily be from what we have made up but it is always worth asking if we can do something unique for you.

Sometimes after appointments I may need to clarify additional fit elements via email.

EXPECTATIONS

Purchasing from afar means we can’t do fittings. So we leave excess allowance in the seams, making it easier for adjustments to be made when you receive your piece. It’s good to have an expectation that the following alterations may be required once you receive your order:

  • Strap alteration

  • Back neck clasp alteration (if applicable)

  • Hem (we ALWAYS cut hems too long, allowing dress to be altered to the correct length at your end, which also accommodates for deciding on shoes. Many of our brides like to use the excess from their hem to wrap the bottom of your bouquet.)

  • Steaming/Pressing

TIMING

Our lead-time for most of our designs is 6 -8 months plus the time required at your end to make any alterations. We feel it is better for International purchases to accommodate for at least a 6 weeks (at their end) to allow for any alterations. Thus ordering with approximately 9 1/2 months.

However depending on your design choices and the time of year we can sometimes be flexible with these timings.

We can offer an express service if you have a tighter timeframe.
